About the client

Rex Minerals is an Adelaide-based Australian mining company developing its flagship A$1.0B Copper-Gold Hillside Project on South Australia’s Yorke Peninsula. The project is set to deliver significant economic benefits to the state, creating long-term employment opportunities for both local residents and those relocating to the region. Stage 1 of the project is fully approved and early-stage site access work, awarding of contracts and building the team to execute the project has commenced.

As the project progresses, Rex Minerals is seeking to appoint a Head of Commercial, based in Adelaide, to lead all commercial aspects of the Hillside Project. The role will be supported by the commercial team, located in Rex Minerals’ newly established office in the heart of the Adelaide CBD.

About the role

The Head of Commercial will lead all commercial aspects of our A$1.0B Greenfields Cu-Au Hillside Project located on the Yorke Peninsula.

Reporting to the Chief Executive – South Australia and acting as an integral part of the leadership team, the role will support the project capability by successfully delivering the commercial strategy plan for both the development of the project and its future operations.

This Head of Commercial will attract, build and lead an experienced team to effectively manage large and complex contracts, proactively manage risks and opportunities and positively engage with various stakeholders.

Experience required

• A bachelor’s degree in commerce, business, finance, mining engineering or a related field, along with a master’s degree or related designation.
• 15+ years’ experience at a senior commercial level in a mining commercial environment including operations and capital projects.
• Proven track record of managing commercial operations, including contract negotiation, business development, and sales in the mining or resource industry.
• Demonstrated expertise in managing financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, profitability analysis, and reviewing and approving financial reports, forecasts, and capital expenditure plans to achieve commercial objectives.
• Exceptional leadership skills with experience building and leading diverse teams
• Advanced MS Office skills and proficient knowledge of computerised accounting systems. Experience with PRONTO & Power Bi desirable.
