Job summary

Norths Collective in Sydney is seeking an experienced Head Chef to lead day-to-day kitchen operations across multiple venues within the club and events portfolio. This role focuses on delivering exceptional food experiences, managing production, and driving guest satisfaction in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience in high-volume multi-outlet catering.
  • Proven leadership experience.
  • Certificate III in Commercial Cookery.
  • Diploma in Hospitality Management desirable.
  • NSW Food Safety Supervisor & NSW Food Hygiene certificates.
  • First Aid, CPR and Advanced Resuscitation certificates.
  • People person with leadership qualities.
  • Strong MS Office and digital skills.
  • Experience with budgeting and P&L responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day production and operation of all food operations across the venue and functions.
  • Lead rostering, scheduling and staff management to meet demand and events.
  • Ensure food safety and hygiene compliance in line with policies.
  • Collaborate with General Manager/Executive Chef on promotions, strategies and menus.

About the role

Reporting to the Executive Chef Norths Collective, we are looking for an experienced Head Chef to join our team.

Food is at the heart of who we are. Our kitchen is front and centre, designed to be part of the Club's energy and atmosphere. From the fresh flavours of Norths Pantry and cafe to our sophisticated bar areas and modernised auditorium, every space is crafted to be vibrant, contemporary, and welcoming. With live shows and dynamic events, no two days are the same-this is a Club reimagined, where great food and great moments come together.

The Head Chef is responsible for the day-to-day production and operation of all the food operations of the venue, including our functions and events menu. The Head Chef will be responsible for the implementation of business goals, promotions & strategies of food operations as set by the General Manager and Executive Chef. To deliver an exceptional experience to all customers by delivering classic and contemporary cuisine to the highest possible standards. To be responsible for all aspects of catering including production, planning and people leadership and training.

Your Key Priorities will be to:
  • Financial Performance. Maintain cost efficiencies and promote new ideas for cost reduction, while ensuring that the operational budget is in line and costs are strictly controlled maximising profitability.   • Strategy and Planning. Play an integral role by ordering , rostering and leading the team to manage daily outlets and events across the venue , keeping ahead anticipated business levels while developing a culture of excellence .
  • Team Management. Build a strong team by maintaining a harmonious and mutually beneficial working relationship with staff, management and customers in a pressured environment.
  • Hygiene and food safety. Maintain highest level of food safety and hygiene in accordance with food safety guidelines and club policies and procedures.
  • Communication. Maintain effective communication with all key stakeholders including senior management, line managers and kitchen staff through scheduled weekly meetings, emails and training .
  • Work, Safety, Health and Compliance. Actively support a range of activities in accordance with Work, Health & Safety legislation obligations and in line with Risk Management Program as well as HACCP audit compliance. Ensure compliance wherever necessary including all relevant legislation, regulations and codes of practice.
The Candidate
  • Experience in a high volume multiple outlet 5-star commercial catering role
  • Proven leadership and staff leadership experience
  • Certificate III in Commercial Cookery
  • Diploma in Hospitality Management is highly desirable
  • Strong experience in service and managing high volume food operations
  • NSW Food Safety Supervisor & NSW Food Hygiene Certificates
  • Current First Aid, CPR and Advanced Resuscitation Certificates
  • People person and passionate leader that drives team culture
  • Good MS office and digital understanding , time management and strategic thinking skillset
  • Previous experience of managing an operating budget with P&L responsibilities
