Job summary

HIGHCLERE HOSPITALITY is seeking an experienced Head Chef for Charing Cross Hotel in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs. This full-time role focuses on shaping the food offering, leading a busy kitchen and building strong supplier relationships.

The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years in a similar role, exceptional leadership and a passion for innovative menu development, with hands-on involvement in daily kitchen operations.

Qualifications

• Passion for the industry, quality and developing new dishes.

The Role

The full-time role will involve but not be limited to:

• Design and implementation of the food offering
• Controlling a roster that meets budget requirements
• Creating and maintaining relationships with suppliers
• Controlling the food GP’s in line with the budget requirements
• Training and development of staff
• Leading a team
• Working in the kitchens alongside the staff

The Candidate

The successful candidate will:

• Have a min 3 years of experience in a similar role
• Have excellent communication, delegation and time management skills
• Be very comfortable leading a team
• Industry leading knowledge of current food trends, products and development techniques
• An unwavering approach to quality and consistency in everything you do, create and deliver
• Must be passionate about the industry with a desire to create new exciting dishes
• Have general computer skills; to implement kitchen systems and procedures, perform weekly reporting and weekly rostering
• Hands‑on Chef that leads by example as this role will require most of your time to be spent in the kitchen with your team
• A desire to make your name in the market, and the diligence to go over and above what is needed to get there
