Job summary

Kingfisher Bay Resort, part of Journey Beyond, seeks a Head Chef to lead culinary operations across our island resort environment on K’gari. You will shape food quality, mentor a multi-skilled team of chefs, and steer menu direction while building a positive kitchen culture in a vibrant, destination setting.

This full-time, live-on-island leadership role requires strong people leadership, workforce planning and cost control.

Qualifications

• Experience leading aHead Chef or senior culinary team.
• Experience leading high-volume hotel or resort kitchens.
• HACCP, Food Safety and Food Hygiene knowledge.

About the Role

You'll lead the culinary operation across Kingfisher Bay Resort, shaping food quality, team performance and the dining experience across restaurants, functions and resort outlets.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll lead and develop a multi-skilled team of Chefs, Cooks and Kitchen Stewards while building a positive, high-performing kitchen culture. You'll influence menu direction, manage workforce planning and food costs, and ensure our kitchens consistently deliver quality food and memorable guest experiences.

Key responsibilities include:

• Lead, coach and develop the resort's kitchen team
• Drive food quality, consistency and service standards
• Manage rosters, labour costs and kitchen performance
• Develop menus and identify opportunities for improvement
• Maintain food safety, compliance and kitchen standards

About You

You're an experienced culinary leader who enjoys developing people, improving performance and creating exceptional food experiences in a large resort environment.

You'll bring:

• Experience as a Head Chef, Executive Sous Chef or similar leader
• Experience leading high-volume hotel or resort kitchens
• Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery
• HACCP, Food Safety and Food Hygiene knowledge
• Strong leadership, commercial and organisational skills
