Job summary

Downer Group in Swanbank, QLD is seeking a Mechanical Trade Assistant to support our mechanics and fabricators in a busy workshop. You will assist with maintenance, basic servicing, and small engine repairs while learning from experienced tradespeople.

This hands-on role requires a current driver's licence and experience operating manual and automatic vehicles. The position offers training, safety-focused culture, and opportunities to grow within a large national organisation.

Qualifications

• Current and valid Driver's Licence.
• Experience operating both manual and automatic vehicles.
• Experience in automotive mechanical, fabrication, maintenance, or a similar hands-on trade environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist qualified tradespeople with mechanical and fabrication tasks
• Carry out basic servicing, maintenance, and small engine repairs
• Support stores operations, including ordering, receiving, and picking parts
• Operate a range of vehicles and machinery, including manual and automatic vehicles
• Contribute to workshop organisation, housekeeping, and safety compliance
