Job summary

Godfrey Hirst Australia Pty Ltd in Geelong is seeking a hands-on Mechanical Engineer to support daily plant operations across Laverton, Truganina, North Geelong, Breakwater and South Geelong. You will keep equipment running reliably, safely and efficiently while contributing to continuous improvement projects.

Responsibilities include coordinating maintenance activities, leading upgrades, troubleshooting issues, and providing technical guidance to production and maintenance teams.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Around 5 years of post-grad experience in a medium-heavy manufacturing environment.
• Comfortable using AutoCAD.
• Solid MS Office skills.
• Experience with CMMS systems (SAP) is a bonus.

Responsibilities

• Keep the plant running smoothly by coordinating maintenance, reliability and safety-critical activities.
• Lead the rollout of improved maintenance and engineering strategies.
• Troubleshoot issues and support the team when unexpected problems arise.
• Provide technical guidance to production and maintenance teams.
• Identify, design and implement upgrades that enhance safety, efficiency and equipment performance.
• Manage small-to-medium capital projects from concept creation through to completion.
• Strengthen safety culture through safe work practices and risk-based decision making.
