Job summary

Osborne Richardson are partnering with Colac Otway Shire Council to recruit an Infrastructure Engineer for the Infrastructure Development Unit in Colac, Victoria. This hands-on role oversees drainage, traffic management and asset-protection matters, advising developers, contractors and residents, processing permits and performing on-site checks.

Based in Colac, the contract runs through to 25 January 2027 with a likely extension.

Qualifications

• Experience in civil or infrastructure fields within local government.
• Solid understanding of civil engineering principles.
• Ability to advise on drainage and flood enquiries.
• Experience coordinating LPOD, vehicle crossing and road opening permits.
• Knowledge of NHVR applications and permits.
• Preparation and review of traffic management plans.
• Ability to provide CAD drawing plans for Council projects.

Responsibilities

• Provide general engineering advice on drainage and traffic management for development projects and enquiries.
• Process applications, permits, approvals and consents for works affecting Council assets.
• Liaise with service authorities (Powercor, Telstra, Barwon Water).
• Provide technical advice to the public, contractors, consultants and Council staff.
• Inspect hold points to ensure works align with design and specifications.
• Ensure Council crews and contractors deliver works per construction plans or approved variations.
• Contribute to the Unit's planning, budget and strategy, and support the Coordinator Infrastructure Development.
