Job description

Campsie RSL Group is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Group Accounts Assistant to join our Finance Department. This role provides operational accounting and administrative support across the Group, helping maintain accurate financial records, reliable reporting and strong financial controls.

Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, you will contribute to day-to-day accounting operations, reconciliations, month-end reporting and the preparation of financial documentation across assigned Group entities.

About the Role

The successful applicant will be responsible for a range of accounting and finance activities, which may include:

  • Processing financial transactions and maintaining accurate general ledger records.
  • Completing bank, balance sheet, supplier and other assigned reconciliations.
  • Supporting month-end and year-end accounting processes.
  • Preparing journals, accruals, prepayments and supporting schedules.
  • Assisting with accounts payable, supplier enquiries and payment preparation, where allocated.
  • Maintaining accurate financial records and audit-ready working papers.
  • Assisting with BAS, IAS, GST and other statutory reporting requirements.
  • Supporting banking, cash receipting and daily takings reconciliations, where allocated.
  • Investigating discrepancies, resolving routine processing issues and escalating matters when required.
  • Maintaining appropriate documentation and complying with internal financial controls.
  • Contributing to process improvements, cross-training and Finance Department continuity.
  • Responsibilities will be allocated according to operational requirements and may cover different Group entities.
Work Location

This is a fully on-site position based at the Campsie RSL Group's designated workplace. The role requires attendance at the workplace to perform its duties and is not offered as a work-from-home or hybrid working arrangement. Applicants should be comfortable working on-site as a condition of the role.

About You

We are looking for someone who is organised, reliable, has a keen eye for detail and is eager to develop their accounting skills. While previous experience in an accounts or finance role would be an advantage, we are willing to train the right person who demonstrates the right attitude, aptitude and willingness to learn.

You may be an experienced accounts professional looking for your next opportunity, or someone at an earlier stage of their accounting career who is ready to build their skills in a supportive team environment.

Ideally, you will have:

  • An interest in accounting, bookkeeping or finance.
  • Basic knowledge of accounting principles or some experience working with financial records.
  • Confidence using computers and a willingness to develop your Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Good attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate work.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage deadlines.
  • A positive attitude, willingness to learn and the ability to follow established procedures.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively as part of a team.
  • A commitment to confidentiality, integrity and professional standards.
  • Relevant qualifications or previous experience in accounting, bookkeeping, accounts payable or general administration would be an advantage, but are not essential

We encourage applications from candidates who can demonstrate their potential, transferable skills and genuine interest in developing a career in accounting.

Training and Development

Campsie RSL Group is committed to helping the successful candidate develop the skills and knowledge required for the role. On-the-job training and guidance will be provided to help you become familiar with our accounting systems, financial procedures, reconciliations and reporting requirements.

You don't need to know everything from day one. We are looking for the right person with a positive attitude, a willingness to learn and the potential to grow with our Finance Department.

Any of the following would be beneficial, but is not essential:

  • Previous experience in an accounts, bookkeeping or finance-related role.
  • Experience with data entry, invoices, payments or financial records.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel or accounting software.
  • Exposure to bank reconciliations, accounts payable or month-end processes.
  • Experience preparing financial documentation or supporting reporting requirements.
  • Experience with MYOB EXO, MYOB AccountRight or similar accounting systems.
  • Experience in hospitality, administration or the registered club industry.
  • Candidates with relevant transferable skills and a genuine interest in developing a career in accounting are encouraged to apply.
What You Can Bring to the Team
  • A commitment to accuracy, accountability and professional standards.
  • The ability to work independently on assigned tasks while contributing to a collaborative Finance team.
  • A willingness to learn, share knowledge and support cross-training.
  • A practical approach to improving processes and reducing recurring errors.
  • Respect for confidentiality, internal controls and delegated authority.

Campsie RSL Group is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes applications from suitably qualified candidates.
