Job summary

UNSW is seeking a Research Associate (Level A) to contribute to the ARC Laureate Fellowship project on caves, climate, and groundwater recharge. You will work with Professor Andy Baker and collaborators to simulate groundwater recharge under climate scenarios, and prepare publications and reports.

Qualifications

• PhD (or soon to be awarded) in groundwater hydrology or related areas.
• Demonstrated ability to carry out scientific research independently and as part of a team.
• Strong research and publication track record relevant to the Laureate Fellowship project.
• Evidence of high level analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience with groundwater models and processing large datasets.
• Programming skills in MATLAB, Python, and/or R.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to collaborative research to enhance Laureate Fellowship outcomes.
• Design, configure, and run groundwater recharge model simulations at different scales.
• Conduct research independently and under supervision.
• Collaborate with Laureate Fellowship team and TU Dresden researchers.
• Publish findings in high-ranked journals and present at conferences.
• Supervise PhD students and participate in workshops and committee work.
