Job summary

Societe Generale Corporate & Investment Banking in Sydney invites applications for a Graduate Trainee – Risk Management. The role offers hands-on exposure to credit processes, risk analytics and quarterly reporting within a fast-paced global bank environment.

You will work closely with the CRO and front office across Australia & New Zealand, developing a solid understanding of debt markets and risk controls while building relationships across diverse teams.

Qualifications

• University degree in Commerce, Finance, Risk Management, Engineering or Mathematics.

Responsibilities

• Build understanding of SG Sydney Front Office businesses, their strategies and products.
• Review credit applications and accompanying financial modelling and sensitivities.
• Support portfolio management and information gathering from various sources.
• Prepare research materials for the CRO in concise studies.
• Assist in producing the Risk Management Committee pack for quarterly purposes.
• Collate, monitor and explain breaches or breaches of key risk metrics.
• Communicate with front office to understand credit exposures and monitor portfolio risk.
• Monitor market movements and their potential impacts on SG Sydney Branch credit portfolio.
• Prepare ad hoc responses for internal requests and external authorities.
• Assist CRO with operational risk monitoring and internal audit follow-ups.
• Collaborate with RISQ regional teams on ad hoc requests.

Job description

Working with the Chief Risk Officer (CRO), the successful candidate will:

• Build up a sound understanding of each of the SG Sydney Branch Front Office businesses, their strategies, products and services to understand how they fit within the broader banking market in Australia & New Zealand;
• Become rapidly proficient with all aspects of the credit process including the review of credit applications (i.e. review of Financial modelling included in the credit applications and understanding sensitivity analyses);
• Support ongoing portfolio management and the gathering of pertinent information from a wide array of sources;
• Perform deep dives into particular topics / sectors of risk with the preparation of research materials into compact studies to be presented by the CRO;
• Assist in the production of the Risk Management Committee pack for quarterly Committee purposes;
• Collate, monitor and explain any resultant breaches or oversteps of key Risk Metrics;
• Periodical communication with front office to obtain a thorough understanding of credit exposures in order to deepen the understanding of and to monitor risk within those portfolios;
• Monitor market movements and their impacts or potential impacts on SG Sydney Branch’s credit portfolio;
• Preparation of ad hoc responses and reports for internal requests and external parties such as regulatory authorities, auditors etc;
• Manage special requests from management including from the CRO and Chief Country Officer;
• Assist CRO with operational risk monitoring and use of the bank’s internal systems for tracking and closing recommendations from internal and external auditors;
• Cooperation with regional RISQ teams to work on ad hoc requests.

Profile required

• University degree in a relevant discipline (Commerce, Finance, Risk Management, Engineering or Mathematics)
