Job summary

The Geelong College invites applications for our 2027 Graduate Teacher Program, commencing Term 1, 2027. This two-year, full-time program provides a guided introduction to teaching with direct support from school leaders and an experienced mentor, helping graduates progress toward provisional and then full registration with the VIT.

Successful applicants will join a fixed-term, 1.0 FTE contract for two years.

Qualifications

• Protecting Children - Mandatory Reporting module completed.
• Be an Australian citizen or Permanent Resident.
• Provide academic transcripts for all university qualifications.
• Obtain provisional registration with VIT before commencement.
• For Years 7–12, hold a Bachelor’s degree in a discipline other than teaching.
• Strong pre-service teacher placement reports.
• Hold current First Aid, CPR, and asthma qualifications (on appointment).
• Completion of anaphylaxis qualification (on appointment).

Job description

Commencing Term 1, 2027 The Geelong College is excited to commence the recruitment of ournext cohort of Graduate Teachers as part of our 2027 GraduateProgram. Successful applicants will enjoy a unique two-yearintroduction to teaching by actively participating in all aspectsof our rich and vibrant College community, that caters for studentsin Early Learning up to Year 12.

The program offers graduate teachers the direct support ofschool leaders and experienced teachers. In addition, successfulapplicants will receive the direct support of an experiencedteacher mentor who is available to coach you through theexperience.

Very importantly, the College will help guide graduates totransition from provisional to full registration with the VictorianInstitute of Teaching (VIT).

Successful applicants will be offered a full-time (1.0FTE)two-year, fixed-term contract at The Geelong College.

Eligibility Criteria All candidates must meet the following criteria toapply for the Graduate Teacher Program;

• Have completed theProtecting Children - MandatoryReporting and other Obligationsmodule - The VictorianDepartment of Education and Training (DET);
• Be an Australian citizen or Permanent Resident;
• Be able to provide academic transcripts for all universityqualifications (related to education and other fields);
• Be able to obtain provisional registration with theVictorian Institute of Teachers (VIT) before commencement;
• If applying for a teaching position from Years 7-12, theapplicant must hold a minimum of a Bachelors degree in adiscipline other than teaching;
• Have very strong pre-service teacher placementreports;
• Hold a current First Aid (HLTAID 011), CPR (HLTAID 009)certificate (upon appointment) and asthma;
• Completion of the anaphylaxis qualification (uponappointment).
