Job summary

Merrivale Primary School in Warrnambool, Victoria, is seeking graduates to join its teaching team. The primary focus is to develop classroom practitioners with structured support and guidance from more senior teachers, planning and delivering programs to achieve student outcomes.

Graduates will teach range 1 classroom programs, support student learning, and engage in induction and professional learning to integrate curriculum, assessment and pedagogy across the school.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of curriculum with ability to teach literacy and numeracy and respond to learning needs.
• Ability to implement high impact teaching strategies guided by how students learn.
• Skill in monitoring and using data to inform teaching and provide feedback.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for collaboration with students, parents and staff.
• Demonstrated behaviours aligned with Department values and commitment to ongoing professional learning.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement diverse teaching programs and units of study.
• Teach curriculum areas to assigned year levels and monitor student progress.
• Monitor, evaluate and report student progress in key learning areas.
• Apply strategies to achieve targets in student outcomes and maintain records.
• Work with mentor, participate in professional development and reflect on practice.
• Assist with co-curricular activities and supervise student activities as needed.
