Job summary

Axon is seeking a contributing SRE in a remote Australia-wide capacity to help deliver reliable cloud-native platforms. You will work with the SRE division and broader engineering teams to improve stability, scalability, and security for mission-critical services.

Ideal candidates have a bachelor’s degree in CS/SE or related field and about 1 year of relevant experience, with hands-on cloud and Kubernetes knowledge, CI/CD, and IaC fundamentals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
  • About 1 year of experience in a software engineering, SRE, or infrastructure role
  • Australian government security clearance, or ability to obtain clearance (AUS citizenship) required
  • Solid understanding of operating systems, preferably Linux
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or similar
  • Experience with Kubernetes platforms like AKS, EKS, or similar
  • Experience with at least one programming language such as Python, Go, C#, Java, or similar
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automation practices
  • Experience with observability tools (logging, metrics, APM)
  • Exposure to Infrastructure as Code concepts (e.g., Terraform, ARM, etc.)
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn
  • Good communication and collaboration skills
  • Exposure to AI development tools

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to building and maintaining reliable, scalable, and secure cloud platforms and tools
  • Apply site reliability engineering principles to improve system stability and performance
  • Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code
  • Troubleshoot and debug issues in distributed cloud-native systems
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to support service reliability and operational excellence
  • Create and maintain documentation to support engineers and improve self-service capabilities
  • Participate in on-call rotations and incident response, learning best practices along the way
  • Grow your skills under the guidance of senior team members, while contributing to team knowledge sharing

What You'll Do
