You will assist in portfolio management, pricing decisions, and providing high-quality analysis of energy consumption scenarios, with weekend coverage on a rotating roster basis.

About the role

The Wholesale and Trading team are looking for a full-time Graduate Market Trader & Analyst to join the team. Learn about the WA retail and wholesale gas and electricity markets through on the job training and, as skills and knowledge are developed, through assisting the team in day-to-day pricing, analytical, quality assurance, energy trading, financial modelling and reporting activities.

You will gain knowledge and skills to understand and be able to undertake the following key accountabilities where required and/or directed to do so, under direct or general supervision as capabilities develop, towards being able to assist in the management of total portfolio position (bilaterals, generation, STEM) and influence commercial strategy (particularly pricing) decisions by providing high quality analysis of energy consumption scenarios.

Please note that this role requires weekend coverage which is shared across the team on a rotating roster basis.
What you’ll be doing:

Analysis & Reporting of Retail and Wholesale Energy Market Position

Short-, Medium- and Long-Term Forecasting

Trading/Commercial Daily Trading –be able to undertake Bilateral, STEM and Balancing submissions in accordance with market rules and obligations, managing trading tools and mechanisms for entity communication.

Analyse, review and validation of all AEMO invoices and related information, lodging and facilitating dispute notices where required and ensuring STEM and/or non-STEM invoices accurately reflect the position under the WEM Rules.

What you’ll bring:

Demonstrated high proficiency and extensive experience in MS Excel and modelling principles and practices.

Proven analytical skills and ability to manage and analyse mass data with a high attention to detail and ability to reconcile outcomes and inputs.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate complex concepts using plain English/simple language.

Able to work unsupervised, maintain self-motivation and demonstrate accountability and initiative.

Efficient, highly organised and strong attention to detail.
