Job summary

Wyndham City Council in Victoria seeks a Graduate Environmental Health Officer to join the Environmental Health team in the community. Based in Werribee, you will work with experienced officers to support inspections, investigations, and community guidance, gaining practical experience in public health and food safety.

The role reports to the Coordinator Environmental Health and involves preparing notices, advising stakeholders, and contributing to program delivery under the Council’s regulatory

Qualifications

• Current enrolment in an Environmental Health qualification recognised in Victoria.
• Well-developed verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
• An interest in public health, food safety and environmental health regulation.
• Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and a willingness to learn in a practical Local Government environment.
• A Current Working with Children Check and a current Driver Licence (or ability to obtain).

Responsibilities

• Assisting with inspections and Environmental Health activities to support compliance with relevant legislation and standards.
• Providing information, guidance and support to residents, businesses and internal stakeholders on Environmental Health matters.
• Supporting the development of public health education and guidance materials.
• Preparing correspondence, documentation and enforcement notices under delegated authority.
• Working collaboratively with the Environmental Health team to support service delivery, compliance activities and community outcomes.
