Job summary

NCS Australia is seeking a motivated Graduate Data Engineer to join our expanding Data & AI team in Melbourne. You will work with experienced consultants to design, develop and support cloud-based data platforms, analytics solutions and AI-enabled capabilities.

You will build data pipelines with Python and SQL, contribute to ETL/ELT processes, ensure data quality and governance, and gain exposure to AI-assisted delivery tools across Databricks, Snowflake, Power BI and cloud platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Software Engineering, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or related field.
• Strong foundational knowledge of Python programming.
• Proficiency in SQL and relational database concepts.
• Knowledge of or exposure to Databricks and modern data engineering concepts.
• Understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software development best practices.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Eagerness to learn new technologies and develop a career in data engineering.
• Exposure to cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Understanding of data warehousing and ETL/ELT concepts.
• Knowledge of data modelling and database design principles.
• Familiarity with version control tools such as Git.
• Exposure to Apache Spark, Snowflake, Power BI, or other modern data and analytics tools.
• Experience gained through internships, university projects, hackathons, or personal technical projects.
• Basic understanding of Agile delivery methodologies.
• Knowledge of data governance, data quality, and information security principles.

Responsibilities
