Job summary

Department of Transport and Main Roads in Queensland seeks a Senior Advisor (Governance) to support major infrastructure delivery by coordinating governance, assurance and issues management. You will provide governance advice to project leadership and manage forums, secretariat duties and executive materials.

The role requires strong written skills, risk awareness and the ability to translate complex information into concise decision‑maker guidance across internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Experience coordinating governance committees and decision‑making in complex projects.
• Strong written communication and analytical skills for briefing notes and governance papers.
• Knowledge of governance frameworks, assurance processes, and risk management.
• Experience coordinating assurance activities, audits or gateway processes.
• Strong stakeholder engagement across multidisciplinary teams and agencies.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage project governance forums, including agendas, papers, minutes, action tracking and registers.
• Provide high‑quality governance advice, executive correspondence, briefing notes and governance papers.
• Lead planning and coordination of project assurance activities, including gateway reviews and audits.
• Monitor governance actions, risks and approvals, escalating as needed through governance pathways.
• Maintain governance frameworks, registers, reporting tools and records for compliance and transparency.
• Develop relationships with project teams, contractors and stakeholders, translating complex info into concise advice.
