Job summary

City of Moreton Bay is seeking a Governance Information Officer in Strathpine to manage Right to Information applications under the RTI Act 2009 and support governance processes that bolster accountability and public trust.

In this hybrid role, you will combine legal interpretation with stakeholder engagement, handle confidential information, and drive process improvements while meeting tight deadlines and organisational objectives.

Qualifications

  • Expert knowledge of RTI Act 2009 and related regulations.
  • Experience processing RTI applications and exercising delegated authority as a decision-maker.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and apply legislation.
  • Excellent written communication skills and the ability to prepare clear and concise documentation.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills and a collaborative approach to working with others.
  • Degree in Law, Business or a related discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Organise, manage and decide a case load of applications under the Right to Information Act 2009 in accordance with relevant legislation and Council policies.
  • Process other disclosure or information requests (e.g. subpoenas) in accordance with relevant legislation and Council policies.
  • Provide advice and support to internal and external stakeholders on information access matters.
  • Prepare clear, accurate and well-reasoned correspondence, reports and decisions relating to information requests.
  • Assist with the processing of administrative action complaints received under the Local Government Act 2009.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure the appropriate handling of confidential and sensitive information.
  • Contribute to process improvements, policy development and initiatives relating to Right to Information matters.

We're looking for an experienced Governance Information Officer to join our Governance, Integrity and Ethical Standards team. In this specialist role, you'll manage information access applications under the Right to Information Act 2009 and support governance processes that help maintain public trust and organisational accountability.

This role combines technical expertise, stakeholder engagement and problem-solving, making it well suited to someone who enjoys working with legislation, managing complex matters and contributing to continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
