Job summary

Chandler Macleod is recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Audit & Assurance Officer to support governance, risk, audit and business continuity functions within a Federal Government environment. The APS 6 role coordinates internal audits, supports assurance and risk activities, and maintains governance frameworks to strengthen organisational resilience.

You will work with senior stakeholders and governance committees to drive compliance, reporting, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Experience in audit, assurance, risk management, governance or compliance within a complex organisation.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify trends, risks and improvement opportunities.
• Excellent written communication skills, including experience preparing reports, briefings and executive-level documentation.
• Proven ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes within tight timeframes.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
• Experience supporting governance committees and working with senior leaders.
• Knowledge of business continuity frameworks and organisational resilience practices will be highly regarded.
• Experience within a Federal Government environment is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage the delivery of internal audits, including planning, stakeholder engagement, audit monitoring and reporting.
• Maintain audit recommendation registers, track management actions and provide timely reporting to leadership and governance committees.
• Manage relationships with internal audit service providers and support assurance, compliance and risk management activities.
• Prepare high-quality reports, briefings and committee papers relating to audit, risk, assurance and business continuity.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of governance, risk and assurance frameworks, policies and processes.
• Support business continuity planning, testing activities and organisational resilience initiatives.
• Coordinate external reviews, risk workshops and assurance activities as required.
