Job summary

Cumberland City Council offers an Apprentice - Golf Course position located 20km west of Sydney. This role combines on-the-job experience with the nationally recognised Certificate III Sports Turf Maintenance, through TAFE or an RTO.

The successful applicant will work across Auburn and Woodville Golf Courses, with travel to various council worksites. The role is 35 hours per week, with access to a 9-day fortnight RDO and a salary under the NSW Local Government (State) Award, plus 12%

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to deal positively with the public and colleagues.
• Good verbal and written communication for paperwork.
• Ability to work as part of a team with interpersonal skills.
• Sound knowledge and application of WHS principles and legislation.
• Basic computer skills and WHS compliance.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the maintenance of the Council’s sportsfields and golf courses to keep spaces safe and community-friendly.
• Support the delivery of the Certificate III Sports Turf Maintenance qualification through on-the-job learning.
• Perform required duties across Auburn and Woodville Golf Courses and other worksites as needed.
