Job summary

ASC, Australia's submarine company, seeks a Shift Test Engineer- Mechanical for a long-term deployment in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. The role offers world-leading NSRP testing, training, and meaningful career development opportunities.

Placements are available in early 2027 for approximately 134 weeks, with responsibilities including NSRP design, testing, operation, and leadership of test activities with HMAS Stirling personnel during deployment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Engineering (any discipline) – ideally Marine/Naval, Nuclear, or Mechanical.
• Experience in defence or submarines is desirable.
• Proactive learner with strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to obtain NV1 Defence Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist expertise in NSRP design, testing and operation on nuclear-powered submarines.
• Lead NSRP testing, operations, maintenance, and direct Ship’s Force during test activities.
• Lead pre-shift briefings and training for NSRP operations.
• Conduct valve and switch line-ups to support NSRP maintenance and testing.
• Act as Shift Test Supervisor and coordinate with multiple departments for NSRP programs.
• Identify retest requirements and coordinate with HMAS Stirling to deliver NSRP tests.
