Job summary

Lazard Australia Pty seeks an experienced Associate (3+ years M&A) to join our Melbourne or Sydney office. You will support day-to-day transaction and marketing efforts, conduct company and industry analysis for new opportunities, and help prepare client-facing materials with the team.

You will build and refine financial models, contribute to due diligence, interact with senior advisers, and mentor junior analysts in a fast-paced environment.

Job description

Lazard Australia is seeking to recruit an experienced Associate (3-plus years of direct investment banking experience) to join our Melbourne or Sydney office.

Role and Responsibilities

Responsible for the day-to-day support of transaction and marketing efforts and conducting company and industry analysis on new transaction opportunities.

The candidate will:

• Research, analyse, sensitise and adapt both internal and client-facing financial and statistical analysis/models;
• Be responsible for assisting in the preparation and production of presentations and marketing materials for clients and prospective clients, in consultation with other team members;
• Work closely with senior corporate advisers, assisting them with various reports and analyses;
• Handle execution and process matters flawlessly, assisting in due diligence efforts as appropriate, understand client objectives and recommend potential solutions;
• Provide mentoring and supervision for analysts.

Requirements

The successful candidate should have outstanding academic graduate or post-graduate results and will have significant M&A experience (3-plus years) within an investment bank or corporate advisory firm.

• Demonstrate strong technical and analytical skills with an ability to build financial models with ease;
• Robust understanding of the accounting principles that underlie typical financial analyses used in corporate advisory (particularly valuations);
• Self-motivated, with demonstrated ability to manage conflicting priorities and requests in a high pressure environment;
• Ability to take initiative and function independently, balanced with strong team skills;
• Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to maintain relationships with colleagues and clients at all levels;
• Strong verbal and written communication skills;
• Ability to work to tight deadlines;
• Strong appreciation of global capital markets and cross-border M&A activities;
• Must maintain high standards of professional and ethical conduct, adhere to legal and regulatory requirements of the investment banking environment, and follow Lazard Australia's policies and procedures.
