Job summary

The University of Melbourne is seeking a part-time (0.8 FTE), fixed-term Program Manager to lead two DFAT-funded global health initiatives at the Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity. You will coordinate delivery across international partners, maintain workplans and budgets, and ensure compliant governance and reporting.

You will develop expertise in safe, ethical practice, GEDSI and MEL frameworks while working with a diverse, world-class team.

Qualifications

• Hold a tertiary qualification in public health, global health, international development or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrate strong project management capability, including work planning, communication and risk management across complex programs.
• Build and sustain productive relationships with government, multilateral and in-country partners across diverse cultural contexts.
• Produce high-quality reports, briefings and correspondence for donor, technical and executive audiences.
• Apply GEDSI and safeguarding principles to global health practice.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate operational delivery of HiT3 and ASPHA, maintaining aligned workplans, budgets and risk registers.
• Organise and service governance meetings and working groups, preparing documentation and driving follow-up on actions.
• Manage travel, visas, procurement and contracting, ensuring compliance with policies and DFAT accountability requirements.
• Monitor program budgets and financial acquittals with finance colleagues, aligning reporting and mitigating risks.
• Support DFAT reporting, GEDSI, safeguarding and MEL integration, maintaining accurate records.
