Job summary

AIE Engineering & Construction Management in Sydney is seeking a versatile GIS, Drone and Survey Specialist to support mining, energy, and infrastructure projects across Australia. Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in Surveying, Spatial Science, GIS, or related field strongly preferred.
  • Remote Pilot Licence (RePL) with demonstrated commercial drone flight experience.
  • Experience using spatial software such as ArcGIS, QGIS, Pix4D, ContextCapture or similar photogrammetry/LiDAR tools.
  • Practical site surveying experience using total stations, GNSS, and scan data processing.
  • Experience in mining, heavy industrial, or infrastructure environments.
  • Strong attention to detail and clear technical communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute UAV/drone capture missions for inspections, site mapping, and data collection.
  • Process and integrate drone data and photogrammetry/LiDAR into engineering deliverables.
  • Conduct site-based surveying to support design, asset management and monitoring.
  • Manage GIS databases and spatial layers ensuring data integrity and alignment with projects.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to enhance drone inspections and spatial reporting.

About the Role:

We are seeking a versatile GIS, Drone, and Survey Specialist to help drive and expand our drone-assisted engineering services. This multi-skilled role combines aerial mapping, geospatial data management, and site surveying to support our mining, energy, and infrastructure projects across Australia.

Key Responsibilities:

Plan and execute UAV/drone capture missions for structural inspection, site mapping, and spatial data collection.

Process, analyse, and integrate drone payload data, photogrammetry, LiDAR, and spatial datasets into actionable engineering deliverables.

Conduct site-based surveying activities to support engineering design, asset management, and monitoring.

Manage GIS databases and spatial layers, ensuring data integrity and alignment with project scope.

Collaborate with engineering teams to push the capabilities of drone-assisted inspections and spatial reporting.

Qualifications and Experience:

Degree or diploma in Surveying, Spatial Science, GIS, or a related field strongly preferred.

Remote Pilot Licence (RePL) with demonstrated commercial drone flight experience.

Sound experience using spatial software (ArcGIS, QGIS, Pix4D, Bentley ContextCapture, or similar photogrammetry/LiDAR software).

Practical site surveying background using total stations, GNSS, and scan data processing.

Background operating across mining, heavy industrial, or infrastructure environments.

Exceptional attention to detail and strong technical communication skills.
