Job summary

Essential Energy is seeking a GIS Business Systems Manager to lead a team of technical specialists that support GIS applications across our network. You will drive strategic GIS initiatives, oversee design, development, testing and deployment of system changes, and ensure operations meet service levels and data standards.

Qualifications

• Professional experience in a similar IT or GIS role within the construction, energy, electrical or utilities industry.
• Broad experience and strong technical knowledge of data structures, databases, system interfaces and system design.
• Demonstrated management experience leading a technical team responsible for application support and development.
• Strong understanding of business and operational processes supported by GIS applications.
• Experience coordinating technical resources and managing projects across a broad range of competing activities.
• Demonstrated ability to identify system improvements, drive change and influence strategic direction.
• Working knowledge of, or experience within, electricity distribution systems.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a GIS Business Systems Manager to join our Network Data and Performance team. This role can be based anywhere within our operational footprint.

The GIS Business Systems Manager is responsible for leading a team of technical specialists who provide technical support, system solutions, spatial reporting and information for GIS applications across Essential Energy. This role provides strategic direction for GIS applications and oversees the analysis, development and delivery of system changes and enhancements.

Working closely with business stakeholders, project managers, ICT teams and application vendors, the GIS Business Systems Manager ensures GIS applications and supporting infrastructure continue to meet operational and business requirements. The role also promotes the effective use of GIS applications and spatial information to support asset management, network operations, regulatory reporting and data-quality improvements.

This position requires strong people leadership, broad technical knowledge of GIS applications and business systems, and the ability to manage competing operational and project priorities. Strong analytical, stakeholder management and strategic planning capabilities are essential.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in Information Technology with a focus on spatial information; or
• Demonstrated equivalent capability through relevant qualifications and/or previous employment experience.
