Job summary

Aurec Group is seeking a GIS Analyst in Sydney with a Carbon & Forestry focus. The role offers a hybrid working model (2 office days per week) and a salary in the AU$110k–$135k range plus super and 29 days leave per year.

You will quantify biomass and carbon across thousands of hectares, build data frameworks, and act as the bridge between field delivery and technical geospatial work.

Qualifications

• Experience on Natural Capital projects using geospatial or remote sensing to map vegetation and canopy.
• Strong background as a GIS Analyst with proficiency in industry-standard tooling.
• Ability to bridge operational delivery and technical geospatial work.

Responsibilities

• Quantify biomass and carbon sequestration across large forestry and bushland areas.
• Develop data frameworks to support carbon accounting beyond simple mapping.
• Collaborate with teams to solve complex geospatial problems across the business.

GIS Analyst (Carbon & Forestry)

Sydney: Hybrid Working Model (2 office days per week)

$110,000 - $135,000 + super + 29 days leave each year

If you're looking for somewhere you can use technology to solve real-world problems, look no further.

Here, you'll use spatial science to fight climate change and protect ecosystems. You won't just be "making maps"-you'll be building the data frameworks that quantify carbon sequestration across thousands of hectares of Australian forestry and bushland.

Much of your work will be grounded in quantifying biomass. This role is more than just run-of-the-mill project delivery though.

You're a subject matter expert for all things GIS. Someone the team looks to to solve complex problems, and to act as a bridge between the operational delivery and technical geospatial sides of the business.

Key Skills/Experience:

You don't need to be an Environmental Scientist, but we are looking for someone who has worked on Natural Capital projects before. Things like using geospatial or remote sensing tech to map out vegetation, look at tree canopy coverage, or anything else involving plant life.

You'll also need a strong background as a GIS Analyst, and a firm grasp of industry-standard tooling including:

• Esri ArcGIS or QGIS
• Basic Python
