Geotechnical Engineering Professional - Experienced

Located approximately 160 km west of Mackay, Centurion Mine is being redeveloped as a premium hard-coking coal longwall operation, with longwall production expected to commence in 2026. The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Geotechnical Engineer to join our technical services team, contributing to mine design, ground control, and ongoing geotechnical investigations at Centurion Coal Mine, reporting to the Geotechnical Superintendent.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake Geotechnical design work and support plans and ensure continuity of operations, safely.
  • Ensure compliance with Strata principal hazard management plan and other relevant strata plans.
  • Conduct regular geotechnical inspections in all underground areas and provide support to underground operations.
  • Manage, analyse, interpret and report Geotechnical data, including monitoring data, and keeping Geotechnical databases up to date.
  • Provide technical support to outbye, longwall and development teams.
  • Provide Geotechnical input into permit to mine and mine design.
  • Participate in risk assessments, as required.

What We're Looking For

  • Tertiary qualification in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Engineering Geology, or a related discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience in underground mining geotechnical engineering—preference for longwall experience.
  • Proficiency with geotechnical software tools (e.g., Rocscience or equivalent).
  • Strong technical report writing, analytical skills, and communication skills.
  • Valid Australian working rights and willingness to operate under a FIFO/DIDO roster model from Moranbah or Mackay.
  • RPEQ qualification highly desirable but not essential.
