Job summary

Stantec in Melbourne is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to join our Environmental and Geosciences team. You will work with experienced engineers and project managers on site investigations, reporting and design development, building your technical capability within a collaborative global consultancy.

Successful candidates will have tertiary Geotechnical or Civil Engineering qualifications and at least 2 years post‑graduate experience in geotechnical or consulting environments.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Geotechnical or Civil Engineering with geotechnical electives and/or major as part of your university studies
• Minimum 2 years’ post-graduate experience in a geotechnical or consulting environment
• Working knowledge of geotechnical investigation techniques and reporting
• Exposure to Australian standards and local ground conditions (desirable)
• Strong communication skills and a proactive, team‑focused approach

Responsibilities

• Undertake and support geotechnical site investigations, including fieldwork coordination and supervision of subcontractors
• Log and interpret soil and rock conditions, reviewing laboratory and in-situ testing results to inform engineering assessments
• Supporting geotechnical analysis, design calculations, and technical reporting
• Support proposal preparation, client communications, and the continuous improvement of technical practices and project delivery
• Contribute to the delivery of geotechnical projects, ensuring outcomes meet safety, quality, budget, and schedule requirements
