Job summary

AECOM is seeking a motivated Engineering Geologist / Geotechnical Engineer to join the Civil Infrastructure, Geotechnical Engineering and Tunnelling Team in South-East Queensland. The role offers a strong field component with travel, combined with technical office work, and opportunities to grow into design input and project delivery.

Qualifications

• Ideally 2–10 years in engineering geology or geotechnical engineering.
• Relevant tertiary degree and professional registration or progress toward it.
• Willingness to undertake regular fieldwork and travel as required.
• Strong understanding of soil/rock mechanics, slope stability and site investigation.
• Familiarity with geotechnical software and 2D/3D modelling tools.
• Good written and verbal communication; able to work independently or in a team.
• Current Class C driver’s licence.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and undertake geotechnical site investigations including drilling supervision.
• Profile soil/rock, log cores and coordinate lab testing programs.
• Prepare factual and interpretive reports for clients.
• Conduct desktop studies with data review and technical documentation.
• Engage with clients and project teams to resolve geotechnical challenges.
• Assist with tender submissions, scope development and preliminary cost estimates.
• Provide geotechnical analyses for foundations, slope stability, pavement designs and earthworks.
• Ensure compliance with standards, guidelines and safety procedures.
