Job summary

Grosvenor Mine is seeking an experienced Geotechnical Engineer for a permanent role based in Moranbah, QLD. You will oversee underground geotechnical matters, design ground support, and audit compliance with standards to ensure safe, productive operations.

You will provide strategic geotechnical advice to technical services and operations, mentor staff, and help manage the Strata Defect System while ensuring safety and legislative adherence.

Qualifications

• Tertiary degree in Geotechnical Engineering or similar discipline.
• Proven underground coal experience within a Geotechnical Engineering role.
• Experience with computer aided mine design programs, geotechnical software, and other business software.
• Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) would be highly advantageous or willingness to obtain recognition.
• Ability to understand functionality of business systems and provide relevant data for business purposes.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular underground inspections to audit installed strata support and strata conditions to confirm the effectiveness in accordance with the approved support designs.

• Advise and assist engineers with recommendations on geotechnical and hydro-geological issues regarding mine design, planning and operations.
• Understand and comply with all legislative and company safety, health, environment, cost and production objectives, guidelines, procedures, and requirements relevant to the professional management of ground conditions.
• Provide mentoring and training to personnel with respect to strata support systems.
