Job summary

Mildura Base Public Hospital (MBPH) is seeking a motivated General Medicine Registrar to join our General Medicine team. You will work under the guidance of Medical Consultants and a multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, evidence-based care in a learning-focused environment.

This role offers exposure to multi-system disease and complex ambulatory care, with MET call experience and after-hours leadership. You will supervise junior doctors and progress through Rural Generalist training, with a

Qualifications

• Current registration with the Medical Board of Australia (via AHPRA), without conditions.
• MBBS (or equivalent) and completion of the relevant postgraduate years.
• Acceptance into, or active progress towards, Rural Generalist training (ACRRM or RACGP).
• Excellent clinical skills and judgement, including sound assessment and decision-making.
• Strong communication and teamwork, with patient-centred care.
• Commitment to patient safety and ongoing professional development.

Responsibilities

• Assess and manage patients on presentation and in the Emergency Department under consultant supervision.
• Develop diagnosis and treatment plans and respond to specialty referrals from other units.
• Attend, and in some circumstances run, Code Blue and MET calls.
• Plan discharge from admission and discuss with patients and their families.
• Participate in clinics, quality improvement and audit activities.
• Supervise and educate junior medical staff and contribute to an on-call roster.
