Job summary

Ashleigh House seeks an experienced aged care clinical leader for the role of General Manager Care. You will provide strategic clinical leadership across residential aged care, home care and retirement living, guiding care delivery, governance and quality improvement initiatives.

Reporting to the CEO, you will lead nursing and care teams, drive compliance with standards, and foster a culture of accountability, compassion and excellence in care for older people.

Qualifications

• Senior clinical leadership experience in aged care.
• Experience as a Director of Nursing or equivalent leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of clinical governance and quality systems.
• Understanding of aged care regulatory environment and reforms.
• Ability to mentor and develop teams.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of safe, high-quality, person-centred clinical care across services.

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate aged care clinical leader to join our organisation as General Manager Care.

This is a senior clinical leadership role responsible for the oversight, leadership and continuous improvement of clinical care delivery and care governance across our residential aged care service, while also supporting quality care outcomes, service integration and clinical oversight across home care and retirement living services.

The role ensures safe, high-quality, person-centred care in accordance with contemporary aged care standards, clinical governance requirements and best practice.

About the Role

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the General Manager Care will provide strategic and operational clinical leadership across residential aged care and support a coordinated approach to care and service delivery across home care and retirement living services.

Key responsibilities include:

• leading the delivery of safe, high-quality, person-centred clinical care
• providing leadership, guidance and support to nursing and care teams
• ensuring strong clinical governance, risk management and continuous quality improvement
• overseeing clinical compliance, care planning, assessments, documentation and clinical systems
• ensuring compliance with the Aged Care Act 2024, Strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards and relevant clinical obligations
• monitoring clinical indicators, incident trends, medication management, infection prevention and consumer outcomes
• leading responses to clinical incidents, complaints, safeguarding concerns and reportable matters
• supporting workforce capability, clinical supervision, mentoring and development
• driving best practice clinical care, education and evidence-based service delivery
• contributing to audit readiness, regulatory reviews and organisational quality improvement initiatives
• working collaboratively with medical practitioners, allied health professionals, residents, clients, families and the broader leadership team
• supporting integrated care and service delivery approaches across residential aged care, home care and retirement living services
• fostering a positive clinical culture focused on accountability, compassion and excellence

About You

To succeed in this role, you will bring:

• demonstrated senior clinical leadership experience in aged care
• experience as a Director of Nursing, Clinical Manager, Care Manager or equivalent aged care clinical leadership role
• strong understanding of clinical governance, aged care compliance and quality systems
• sound knowledge of the current aged care regulatory environment and reform agenda, including residential aged care and home care reforms
• strong leadership capability with the ability to mentor, support and develop teams
• excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills
• proven ability to manage clinical risk, quality improvement and complex care environments
• commitment to person-centred care, consumer dignity and clinical excellence
• current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse
• demonstrated aged care clinical leadership experience
• National Police Check
• Aged Care Worker Screening Clearance (or ability to obtain)
• relevant immunisation evidence in accordance with organisational requirements

Highly Desirable

• postgraduate qualifications in aged care, clinical leadership, management or related discipline
• experience leading aged care accreditation / registration and quality improvement processes
• experience across residential aged care, home care and/or retirement living services
