Job summary

Hyden Primary School is seeking a Gardener - Handyperson to maintain the school grounds, turf areas, beds and shrubs, ensuring safety and a welcoming outdoor environment for students and staff.

You will work with the Manager of Corporate Services to implement safe work procedures, conduct risk assessments and comply with OSH requirements, contributing to a positive school culture.

Qualifications

• Working With Children Check required.
• Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check required.
• Australian or New Zealand citizenship, permanent resident status or valid work visa required.

• Maintain school grounds, turf areas, garden beds and shrubs to create a safe, tidy outdoor environment.
• Oversee hard landscaping features such as courts and paving and ensure equipment is maintained.
• Develop safe work procedures, undertake risk assessments and comply with OSH legislation.

This is a permanent part-time (0.5 FTE) position commencing Term 4, 2026.

The Role

Join our team as a Gardener - Handyperson and contribute to fostering a positive learning environment!! As a key member, you’ll be instrumental in maintaining the school grounds, ensuring they are safe, tidy, and conducive to a positive environment for both students and staff. From overseeing the turf areas, garden beds, and shrubs to managing hard landscaping features like courts and paving, you’ll play a vital role in creating an inviting and inspiring outdoor space.

Your commitment to maintaining gardening facilities, equipment, and tools in a good condition will be integral to promoting a positive culture within the school. Collaborate with the Manager of Corporate Services to develop safe work procedures, undertake risk assessments, and ensure compliance with Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) legislation.
