Job summary

OPT Energy is a growing company delivering hot water, heat pump, and air conditioning installations in Victoria. This hands-on role combines residential work with compliance management and resolving installation issues to meet Australian standards.

You will install and test systems, coordinate with electricians and other trades, review installations for defects, and prepare required documentation and certificates.

Full-Time Plumber - Hot Water, Air Conditioning & Compliance Management

This is a hands-on role combining residential installations with compliance management, quality assurance, and the investigation and resolution of installation issues and customer complaints. You will deliver quality installations, identify and rectify technical issues, and ensure work meets applicable Australian standards and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

Install and replace residential hot water systems, electric heat pump water heaters, and associated plumbing components

Carry out plumbing works associated with replacing existing gas hot water systems with electric heat pump systems

Install residential air conditioning systems, including multi-split systems, where appropriately licensed and qualified

Complete associated plumbing, drainage, pipework, and other installation tasks within your authorised scope

Conduct site inspections and assess installation requirements to ensure work is completed safely and efficiently

Test completed installations and verify that systems are operating correctly

Coordinate with electricians, refrigeration technicians, and other trades to ensure projects are completed on schedule

Ensure plumbing installations comply with applicable Australian plumbing standards, VBA requirements, and relevant regulations

Review completed installations to identify defects, non-compliant work, and potential safety concerns

Prepare, review, and maintain required compliance certificates, job reports, photographs, and installation documentation

About you

A valid and current Victorian plumbing licence appropriate to the plumbing work being performed

Relevant qualifications and authorisations for water supply and gas-fitting work, where required

Proven experience in residential hot water and heat pump installations

Strong knowledge of applicable Australian plumbing standards, VBA requirements, and compliance documentation

Experience diagnosing technical faults, investigating customer complaints, and managing rectification works

Excellent problem-solving, organisational, and time-management skills

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Ability to work independently and coordinate effectively with other trades
