Job summary

Minimum 12 months in commercial/residential painting with knowledge of protective coatings is required. Salary is set at AU$80,000 per year plus superannuation; construction induction card and additional licenses are advantageous.

Qualifications

• AQF Certificate III in painting is required.
• Minimum 12 months of commercial and residential painting experience.
• Experience with high-performance and protective coatings is expected.
• Familiarity with faux finishes, marbling, graining and fresco is desirable.
• Construction induction card is required.
• Good understanding of colour theory and finish types is advantageous.
• Ability to climb ladders and handle heavy equipment safely.
• Additional tickets/licenses such as EWP are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Apply paint, stain, varnish, enamel and other finishes with spray guns, brushes or rollers.
• Prepare surfaces with primers or sealers for finishes.
• Estimate material quantities and costs from surface measurements/work orders.
• Protect surfaces with drop cloths and masking; maintain a clean site.
• Repair cracks and joints with caulk or fillers as needed.
• Mix colours and finishing additives to achieve desired results.
• Read work orders and follow supervisor instructions.
• Maintain records and ensure proper site protection.
