Job description

Are you an experienced veterinarian with a passion for feline medicine and surgery? This unique role in Tasmania could be exactly what you’re looking for.

A large feline-focused practice is seeking a skilled senior vet to join its compassionate and experienced six-vet team. This is a shelter-based position with no client-facing work, offering an interesting and varied caseload that goes beyond what you’d typically encounter in private practice.

The role can be full or part time, with flexibility around hours. Ideally, you’ll work three to four days per week, but arrangements can be tailored to suit the right candidate. There is no after-hours or weekend work, so you can enjoy a healthy work-life balance.

You’ll be supported by a team of experienced veterinarians and Cert IV-qualified nurses in a collaborative and positive workplace. For those interested in leadership, there is also the option to step into a head vet role. With established protocols already in place, this would involve refining systems, supporting team development and overseeing areas such as medication management.

Applicants should have at least five years of veterinary experience, with strong feline handling and clinical skills. Shelter medicine experience, particularly with cats, will be highly regarded. Resilience, adaptability and excellent communication skills are important, along with the ability to work independently and contribute to a collaborative team culture.

In return, you’ll enjoy above award wages, flexible working arrangements and a strong workplace culture that values wellbeing. This includes access to a world-class resilience program and an in-person Employee Assistance Program delivered by clinical psychologists.
