Job description

Calling all emergency and critical care veterinarians! Positions are available to join an ECC practice in Sydney.

This role may appeal to vets looking to develop or continue an ECC career within a growing, privately owned practice, with exposure to varied emergency work and the support of an established veterinary team.

The team at the practice manage emergency presentations, ICU and hospital patients. Additional support is available from a part-time medicine specialist and an orthopaedic surgeon.

The team enjoys a collaborative and supportive culture built on compassion and respect for patients, clients and one another. Open communication is encouraged, colleagues support each other, and successes are celebrated together.

The hospital is designed with staff comfort and wellbeing in mind and includes a well-stocked kitchen, quiet tearoom for downtime, secure staff parking, on-site vending machine and more.

The roster is varied and current shift patterns include emergency day shifts from 7 am to 5 pm, midday hospital shifts from 12 pm to 10 pm, weekday consulting shifts from 6 pm to midnight, weekend consulting shifts from 4 pm to 2 am, and overnight shifts from 9:30 pm to 7:30 am. This is a full-time role, however, part-time hours may be considered.

Permanent staff benefits listed by the employer include flexible work arrangements, staff discounts, an Employee Assistance Program, paid continuing education and conference leave, an annual CPD allowance, and access to mentorship and cross-training in emergency and general practice.

The hospital is exceptionally well-equipped, with two surgical theatres, a dedicated ICU and an advanced imaging suite featuring CT, digital radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy and dental x-ray. Vets are supported by a full IDEXX in-house pathology suite, advanced anaesthetic monitoring, high-flow oxygen and ventilatory support, new infusion pumps and syringe drivers, as well as separate feline, canine and isolation wards. A blood donor program and dedicated consultation spaces further support the delivery of high-quality patient care. The team utilise EzyVet and SmartFlow for seamless workflow.

The employer is willing to assist with a work visa (sponsorship) for suitable overseas candidates. Applicants must have a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (or equivalent) and be eligible for registration as a veterinary practitioner in Australia.
