Qualifications

• Certificate IV qualification is required.
• At least 1 year of relevant industry experience.
• Strong knowledge of vehicle systems and components.
• Ability to diagnose and repair a wide range of mechanical issues.
• Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to safety.
• Relevant certifications and qualifications in motor mechanics.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.

Responsibilities

• Inspect vehicles and diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using diagnostic equipment and road tests.
• Examine engines, transmissions, steering, suspension, braking, ignition and fuel systems to identify faults.
• Perform scheduled servicing and routine maintenance according to manufacturer requirements.
• Change engine oil and filters, check fluid levels, rotate tyres and complete vehicle tune-ups.
• Dismantle engines, transmissions and other mechanical components to inspect their condition.
• Repair or replace worn, damaged or faulty parts, including brake pads, belts, hoses and wheel bearings.
• Reassemble engines and other mechanical components after completing repairs.
• Diagnose and repair vehicle electrical systems, including batteries, alternators, starter motors and lighting.
• Service and repair braking, steering and suspension systems.
• Adjust brakes and perform wheel alignments where required.
• Test repaired vehicles using diagnostic computers and other testing equipment.
• Conduct road tests and final inspections to ensure vehicles operate safely and correctly.
• Discuss vehicle faults with customers and explain the repairs required or completed.
• Provide estimates of repair costs, labour requirements and completion times.
• Maintain accurate service and repair records and schedule future maintenance.
• Use and maintain workshop tools and equipment safely while keeping the work area clean and organised.
