Job summary

GAVAL Community Services invites applications for a Disability Support Worker to provide flexible, individualized support to participants in daily activities and skills programs across services.

The role requires a Certificate III/IV in Disability or Aged Care, NDIS screening, 100 points ID, police clearance, First Aid/CPR, manual handling and a car to support client transport. Availability of at least 3 full-time weekdays is essential.

Qualifications

• Certificate III or IV in Disability or Aged Care
• NDIS Worker Screening Check
• 100 points of ID (Citizenship/Passport/Driver Licence/Visa & Granted Form, Medicare Card or government issued document)
• Police Clearance
• First Aid + CPR
• Manual Handling
• Medication certificate
• Car registration
• Car insurance comprehensive
• Covid-19 vaccinations 3 doses
• Must be available at least 3 days full-time (weekdays)

Responsibilities

• Assist participants with daily activities and home-based tasks.
• Provide short-term interventions, psycho-education and mentoring.
• Facilitate daily personal hygiene and care tasks.
• Coordinate and facilitate community access.
• Provide emotional support and encouragement.
• Assist with participant communication and decision-making.
• Implement and monitor behaviour management strategies as required.
• Goal planning and tracking for participants.
• Empower participants in learning, skill development and employment.
• Transport participants to medical appointments and social activities.
• Uphold rights, independence and dignity, ensure confidentiality.
