Qualifications

• Certificate III in Carpentry or equivalent.
• 1–3 years of experience as a Carpenter.
• Ability to read and interpret building plans and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Reading and interpreting plans, drawings and specifications to work out materials, measurements and installation methods.
• Ordering and selecting timber and building materials, and setting out layouts on site.
• Measuring, cutting and shaping materials, then assembling components.
• Erecting wall frames, panel systems and roof framing, installing sub-floors and flooring, ensuring level, plumb and square structures.
• Fixing fascia boards, sheeting roofs, and installing external wall and window frames.
• Assembling pre-cut timber components for installation.
• Building formwork for concrete pours as required.
• Repairing and maintaining existing fittings and fixtures.
• Working with timber, plywood, lightweight steel, plasterboard and other materials.

Task & responsibilities

• Reading and interpreting plans, drawings and specifications to work out the materials needed, measurements and installation methods.
• Ordering and choosing suitable timber and building materials, and setting out layouts on site.
• Measuring, cutting and shaping materials, then assembling and fixing components together.
• Erecting wall frames, prefabricated panel systems and roof framing, installing sub-floors and flooring, and checking all structures are level, plumb and square.
• Fixing fascia boards, sheeting roofs, and installing external wall cladding, door frames and window frames.
• Assembling pre-cut timber components into structures and fittings ready for installation.
• Cutting and forming timber joints.
• Building formwork for concrete pours as required.
• Repairing and maintaining existing fittings and fixtures where needed.
• Working with materials such as plastic laminates, perspex and metals when required.
• Constructing, installing, renovating and repairing structures and fixtures made from timber, plywood, lightweight steel, plasterboard and other materials.

Qualification & experience

• Certificate III in Carpentry or a relevant qualification.
• 1–3 years of experience working as a Carpenter.

Requirements

• Ability to read and understand building plans and specifications.
• Strong practical skills with hand and power tools.
• Good understanding of workplace health and safety practices.
• Reliable, punctual and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
