Job summary

Famished on Frasers Pty Ltd in Ashgrove, QLD is seeking a full-time Cook to join our busy café kitchen. You will prepare and cook a variety of breakfast and lunch items, follow established recipes, and ensure portioning and presentation meet café standards.

You will work as part of a supportive kitchen team, uphold food safety and workplace safety, and adapt to a flexible roster during busy service periods.

Qualifications

• Certificate III and/or IV in Kitchen Management or an equivalent qualification.
• Minimum 1 year experience working as a Cook in a café/restaurant or commercial kitchen.
• Experience preparing and cooking meals in a commercial kitchen.
• Sound knowledge of food safety, hygiene, storage and temperature-control requirements.
• Ability to operate commercial kitchen equipment safely and effectively.
• Ability to maintain consistency in food quality, portioning and presentation.
• Good communication, teamwork and time-management skills.
• Ability to work a flexible roster when required.

Responsibilities

• Examine ingredients and food products for freshness and suitability.
• Prepare ingredients for service, including washing, cutting and marinating.
• Cook breakfast and lunch dishes to café standards and recipes.
• Operate ovens, grills, fryers and other equipment; monitor times and temperatures.
• Maintain clean and sanitary kitchen areas and equipment.
• Assist with stock control and assist with deliveries.
