Job summary

Decipher Bureau in Canberra is seeking two software engineers, entry- to mid-level, to build bespoke software for government and private-sector clients across frontend and backend. You'll work with Golang, Python, Rust, JavaScript and React, with AI-focused tooling and deep ownership from early on.

The role offers early responsibility, wide latitude to find solutions, and a collaborative team that maintains knowledge in version control. Interstate applicants are welcome.

Qualifications

• Experience in at least one backend and one frontend language (Golang, Python, Rust, JavaScript/React).
• Familiar with Git and team workflows through pull requests.
• Exposure to CI/CD systems and databases (SQL or MongoDB).
• Willing to work with wide latitude, find answers and ask for help when needed.
• Ability to explain technical concepts to non-specialists.
• Pragmatic about quality.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain bespoke software across the stack using Golang, Python, Rust, JavaScript and React.
• Design for security, maintainability and scalability from the start.
• Track down root causes across the stack and fix them.
• Work with AI and help build AI-focused tooling.
• Integrate and deploy software in varied enterprise environments and support clients through delivery.
• Prototype and build alongside people from other disciplines.
• Write clean, well-documented code and participate in code reviews.
• Document systems so knowledge lives in version control.
• Keep learning and share findings with the team.
