Job summary

Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour is seeking an experienced Front Office professional to join the Rooms Controller team. You will manage daily room inventory, allocations and guest preferences to ensure seamless arrivals and VIP handling.

Reporting to the Front Office Manager, you’ll collaborate with Guest Services, Housekeeping and Engineering to optimise room readiness and guest experience in a luxury environment on Sydney’s waterfront.

Qualifications

• Experience in Front Office, Rooms Division or hotel operations, ideally in luxury hotels.
• Strong knowledge of room inventory, allocations and Front Office operations.
• Excellent attention to detail with ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily room inventory, including VIP, group and queue allocations and reallocations.
• Coordinate room allocations to meet guest preferences and earliest availability.
• Maintain knowledge of hotel facilities, room types, promotions and operational requirements.
• Monitor room availability and coordinate with Housekeeping and Engineering to maximise readiness.
• Communicate with Sales, Guest Services, Housekeeping, Engineering and Front Office to ensure appropriate room allocation.
• Contact guests when queue rooms become available and perform post-arrival welcome calls as needed.
• Support smooth arrivals for individual, group and VIP guests and manage guaranteed arrival times.
• Update guest profile notes for relevant information from Front Office Ambassadors and Duty Managers.
• Respond to guest and Ambassador inquiries, including billing queries and room requirements.
