Job summary

Canberra Grammar School is seeking a Language Assistant to support junior and senior language classes with a focus on French fluency. You will run small-group conversation activities, prepare resource materials, and help students develop written and spoken French and English skills during term time.

The role requires collaboration with teachers, strong communication, and good IT adaptability. Spanish fluency is a plus, and full Australian working rights are required.

Qualifications

• Fluency in French and English required.
• Spanish fluency desirable.
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues.
• Strong written and verbal communication with students, parents and staff.
• Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.
• Aptitude for learning new IT systems used at the school.

Responsibilities

• Assist with small-group conversation practice for students in years 7–12.
• Prepare resource materials and exemplar samples of written and spoken work.
• Support teachers in developing students' language fluency.
• Work alongside teachers in junior and senior classes as requested by Head of Language Acquisition.
