Job description

As our FP&A Analyst, at SPT Labtech you’ll join the Group FP&A team and work at the heart of our Aftersales business (service and consumables). You’ll partner with our commercial and operations teams and help them understand what’s driving performance. You’ll also get hands‑on with wider FP&A work: building forecasts, preparing the monthly management reporting and explaining the story behind the numbers. You’ll be based at our Cambridge site on Melbourn Science Park.

This is a role for someone at the start of their finance career who wants real responsibility and broad commercial exposure from day one. Whether you’re already part-qualified or ready to start your ACCA, CIMA or ACA, we’ll back you all the way through your exams and help you build your career in finance.

We work collaboratively with our customers, building trusted relationships that enable us to deliver exceptional, personalised experiences designed for real-world challenges in the lab.

Want to be part of a team that’s truly making a difference?

Your key responsibilities will include:

Aftersales
  • Act as the finance partner to the Aftersales commercial and operations teams, providing insight into performance, pricing and margin.
  • Weekly reporting of Aftersales order intake, revenue and KPIs.
  • Contributing to the weekly revenue and order intake meetings, providing analysis and insight on performance and the outlook.
  • Reporting on labour utilisation across the service team, highlighting trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Owning the installed base database and monthly installed base reporting.
  • Tracking and reporting service contract attach rates, renewals and warranty conversion.
  • Month end support to the UK Finance team for service revenue.
Forecasting
  • Preparing the monthly service and consumables forecasts, linking them to the installed base, contract renewals and consumables usage trends.
  • Resource capacity planning for the service team, aligning headcount and skills with forecast demand from the installed base.
  • Supporting the annual budget and longer-term strategic planning process.
Monthly reporting and variance analysis
  • Contributing to the monthly management reporting pack.
  • Analysing performance against budget, forecast and prior year, and clearly explaining the key drivers of variances.
  • Preparing and presenting financial data and insight to management.
Systems and continuous improvement
  • Maintaining data consistency across the ERP and our customer relationship management system (Salesforce).
  • Continuously seeking to improve and automate reporting and drive efficiencies to support the needs of a growing business.
  • Ad-hoc projects and analysis as required.
Skills & Attributes

Essential:

  • Part-qualified in ACCA, CIMA or ACA, or keen to start working towards an accountancy qualification.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to work with non-finance colleagues.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and data analysis skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft PowerPoint creating presentations.
  • An analytical mindset, strong attention to detail and curiosity about what drives the numbers.
  • A team player and passionate about supporting a growth business.

Nice to have:

  • Previous experience in an FP&A, commercial finance or management accounting role.
  • Exposure to service, subscription or other recurring revenue businesses.
  • Data Visualisation and Business Intelligence (Power BI or Tableau) creating insightful financial dashboards and reports.
  • Experience using ERP and CRM systems.
