Insight Enterprises, Inc. is hiring a Forward Deployed Engineer Principal to embed with client teams and deliver end-to-end AI and data solutions. You’ll translate complex business problems into structured technical outcomes, owning deliverables from discovery through deployment and handover.

You will collaborate with client engineers, influence accelerators, and mentor newer engineers while maintaining high standards of technical excellence and commercial discipline.

Qualifications

• Delivered real software end-to-end from discovery to handover in a consulting or professional-services setting.
• Strong engineering across Python, .NET/C#, or TypeScript; SQL; cloud platforms (Azure preferred); data pipelines and API design.
• Experience with AI coding agents, LLM/agent patterns, and Azure AI services is valued.

Responsibilities

• Discover & Frame: run discovery workshops, translate business problems into solution architecture, define smallest valuable slice and fixed-price scope.
• Build & Deploy: architect and deliver production-grade data pipelines, APIs, UIs, and ML/LLM components; integrate with client infra and ensure end-to-end quality.
• Enable & Embed: pair with client engineers to build capability, run workshops, and create durable documentation for handover.
• Shape Insight's Future: capture patterns for accelerators, identify opportunities, mentor newer engineers, and contribute to the Forward Deployed Engineering practice.

About the Role

Leadership: This role reports to Bruce Anderson, who is based in Brisbane and is one of our AI Apps & Data Practice Leads. He champions a culture of ownership, innovation, and client-first delivery, empowering engineers to drive real business outcomes while maintaining the highest standards of technical excellence and commercial discipline.

As aForward Deployed Engineer Principal, you will embed with client teams to deliver high-impact AI and data solutions end-to-end—from discovery and design through build, deployment, enablement and handover. You are the connective tissue between Insight's accelerators and the real-world complexity of each client's data, tools, processes and people. We will count on you to own outcomes completely, translate fuzzy business problems into structured solutions, and close the critical "last mile" where enterprise AI value truly lives.

Along the way, you will get to:

• Discover & Frame:Run discovery workshops with client stakeholders, translate business problems into solution architecture, identify the smallest valuable slice, and surface constraints early—all while framing scope to fit a fixed-price envelope
• Build & Deploy:Architect and deliver production-grade solutions across the full stack (data pipelines, APIs, UIs, agentic workflows, ML/LLM components), integrate seamlessly with client infrastructure, and own quality end-to-end
• Enable & Embed:Pair with client engineers and analysts to build capability, run workshops, and create documentation that outlives the engagement—ensuring clients can run, extend and trust the solution after you leave
• Shape Insight's Future:Capture patterns into our accelerator library, flag product opportunities, mentor newer FDEs, and contribute to a thriving Forward Deployed Engineering practice

What We're Looking For

• Production-Grade Engineering:You've shipped real software for real users through full lifecycle delivery (discovery to handover) and have worked in a consulting, professional-services or embedded-engineering
• Full-Stack Technical Depth:Strong engineering across Python, .NET/C#, or TypeScript; SQL; cloud platforms (Azure preferred); data engineering (pipelines, dbt, SQL warehouses); LLM/agent application development; API design; and comfort in the terminal (git, Docker, CI/CD, IaC)
• AI & Modern Development Fluency:Proficient with AI coding agents as a core part of your build workflow; hands-on with LLM/agent patterns (prompting, RAG, tool use, evaluation, guardrails); and familiar with Azure AI services and AI-driven development tools (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code)
• Commercial & Leadership Acumen:You understand fixed-price unit economics, read the room, communicate clearly with CTOs and frontline users alike, and resolve issues at engagement level.
