Job summary

Direct Personnel is seeking an experienced Forklift Operator/Trade Assistant to join a growing mining fabrication team in the Hunter Valley. Full-time hours with optional overtime and weekly pay provide stability and steady workflow within a well-established structural steel fabrication operation for the mining sector.

You will operate a forklift, assist with fabrication and welding support, read drawings, and work safely as part of a skilled production team.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as Forklift Operator, Trade Assistant, or in a fabrication/workshop environment.
• Current Forklift Licence (LF) - essential.
• Experience using hand and power tools.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings.
• Strong work ethic and reliable attendance.
• Current driver licence and reliable transport.
• Commitment to workplace health and safety.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol test.
• Full Australian working rights.

Responsibilities

• Operate a forklift to move materials, stock, and finished products around the workshop and yard
• Assisting with fabrication, welding support, and general workshop activities
• Loading and unloading deliveries safely and efficiently
• Reading and interpreting drawings
• Using hand and power tools
• General workshop duties and housekeeping
• Working safely as part of a skilled production team
