Job summary

True Foods in Maryborough, Victoria is seeking a Food Technologist to join the Research & Development team. You will help create, develop and improve products for Retail and Food Service, working hands-on from ingredient research through to factory trials and commercial production.

You will collaborate with experienced Food Technologists and the R&D Manager to execute the complete product development cycle in a practical manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• A tertiary qualification in Food Science, Food Technology or a related discipline.
• A sound understanding of food safety principles, including HACCP and GMP.
• A genuine interest in hands-on product development and commercial food manufacturing.
• Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities.
• Good communication and teamwork skills across functions.

Responsibilities

• Support new product development, product renovation and continuous improvement projects from concept through to commercialisation.
• Undertake hands-on product formulation, ingredient evaluation and development activities.
• Prepare, conduct and document product trials, including pilot-scale and factory trials.
• Prepare and evaluate product samples, including sensory and technical assessments.
• Support manufacturing troubleshooting, process optimisation and value engineering initiatives.
• Maintain accurate formulations, product specifications, trial reports and technical documentation.
• Research ingredients, emerging technologies and food industry innovations to identify opportunities for product improvement.
• Work collaboratively with Marketing, Sales, Operations, Quality and Supply Chain to support successful product launches.
• Support product compliance with relevant food safety, regulatory and customer requirements.
• Take ownership of assigned activities and, as experience develops, manage smaller development projects with guidance from senior team members.

Education

Tertiary qualification in Food Science or Food Technology
