Job summary

Mercy Health in Yarrawonga is seeking a Food Service Assistant to support meal preparation, service and dining room activities for residents.

You will follow food safety protocols, work with kitchen staff and dietitians to meet dietary needs, and engage with residents to ensure a positive mealtime experience. Evidence of food handling training and prior aged care experience are desirable.

Qualifications

• Food safety training or certification is desirable.
• Experience in food service or kitchen work, especially in aged care, is desirable.
• Understanding of nutritional needs and dietary restrictions in aged care.
• Good verbal communication with residents and staff.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team.

• Cleaning Duties: Cleans and maintains kitchen and dining areas, ensuring a tidy environment.
• Assisting with Dietary Needs: Works with dietitians to accommodate special dietary needs and preferences.
• Training and Compliance: Participates in training on food safety regulations and compliance standards.
• Collaboration: Works closely with chefs and other kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations.
• Feedback Collection: Gathers feedback from residents about meal quality and preferences for improvement

• Food Handling Certification: Completion of food safety training or certification, often required by local health regulations is desirable.

• Communication Skills: Good verbal communication skills to interact effectively with residents and staff.
• Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
