Job summary

Nepean Private Hospital is seeking an experienced Food Services Assistant to join our hospitality team on a casual basis. You will contribute to daily meal service, patient care and a clean kitchen environment in a fast-paced hospital setting.

You will uphold food safety standards, work as part of an interdisciplinary team, and provide friendly, patient-focused service across staff, clients and patients.

Qualifications

• Authority to work in Australia.
• Working with Children check (if relevant).
• Experience in aged care or hospital environment is desirable.
• Knowledge of food safety and hygiene requirements.
• Commitment to service excellence.
• Strong communication and customer skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist in daily food preparation and basic meal assembly.
• Deliver, serve and collect patient food requirements and meal trays.
• Assist in cleaning kitchen equipment and utensils including dishwashing.
• Promote a professional and positive interdisciplinary team culture.
• Provide high standard of customer service to staff, clients and patients.
• Operate in line with WHS policies and procedures.

Nepean Private Hospital is in the multi-cultural Western Sydney City of Penrith. The hospital is a modern 109 bed facility providing a wide range of health services to the local community since 2000 including: orthopaedics, spinal, gynaecology, ENT, plastics, urology and general surgery, endoscopy, cardiology, cardiac angiography and obstetrics. Nepean Private Hospital has eight operating theatres, one hybrid/cardiac catheterisation theatre and an endoscopy suite, supported by a critical care unit which includes intensive care.

As a Food Service Assistant your responsibilities will include:

• Assist in daily food preparation and basic meal assembly
• Deliver, serve and collect all patient food requirements and meal trays
• Assist in general cleaning of kitchen equipment and utensils including dish and pot washing as required.
• Act as a valued member of an interdisciplinary team by promoting a professional and positive team culture.
• Provide high standard of customer service
• Operate in line with WHS policy & procedures
• Deliver excellent customer service to staff, clients and patients
• Have demonstrated ongoing commitment to professional development
